2023 In Review: Message from Senior Director of Long-Term Care Services

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is the opportunity it gives you to reflect on the past year. The last twelve months have brought about many exciting changes, and I’m thrilled to share some of them with you.

One of our biggest accomplishments this year has been achieving a deficiency-free health inspection survey for the second consecutive year. This is a true reflection of how our staff members go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our residents. In addition, we continue to maintain our CMS 5-star rating. From adapting to new regulations to introducing new services, I can proudly say we have risen to the occasion time and time again.

Another highlight of 2023 has been our continued commitment to exploring innovative ways to support our residents’ unique needs. We have introduced new resident engagement technology including the Virtual Dementia Tour, Tovertafel (“Magic Table”) and two more iN2L devices. These platforms keep our residents healthy by combating social isolation and loneliness. By providing easy ways to connect with friends, family members, and other community members, these technologies help residents maintain their social networks and stay engaged with the world around them.

We continue to work on strategic renovations to our Assisted Living Community. I’m excited to share that plans are currently underway to redesign the dining room over the winter months. The dining room is an important part of the community, where residents come together to enjoy meals and socialize with one another. Our goal with these renovations is to create a more comfortable and inviting space that will enhance the overall dining experience for our residents. This includes updating the decor, improving lighting, and adding new furniture to ensure a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Work is also currently underway to refurbish four rooms into dedicated hospice suites. These rooms will be specifically designed to provide comfort to residents during end-of-life care.

At Rockingham County, we believe that it’s important to give back to the community that has given us so much, and I’m proud of the efforts our staff has made to make that happen. One of our achievements was organizing a team for the Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s. With the help of our residents and staff, we were able to collect and donate over $5,000 for Alzheimer’s and dementia research. In addition to the Walk, we have also organized blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross, food drives, and community events.

As we look towards 2024, our team remains dedicated to providing exceptional care to our residents and continuing to find ways to make a positive impact on our local community.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity us to serve you and your loved ones.

Jason
