Physician Services

Physician involvement is essential in delivering quality care in a nursing home or short-term rehabilitation center. Our team of providers are available for nursing home and rehabilitation residents 5 days a week to support their overall health and wellbeing. Our physicians lead the clinical decision-making for residents under their care by providing a high level of knowledge, skill, and experience. By overseeing the direction of care, our on-site physicians aim to improve health outcomes and reduce rehospitalizations. 

Dr. Karl Singer, MD
Medical Director

Dr. Karl L. Singer is a geriatrician affiliated with Exeter Hospital. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and has been in practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Singer has been Rockingham County Rehabilitation & Nursing Center’s Medical Director since 1982. His focus is on the unique health needs of the elderly, including chronic diseases, nutritional problems, skin ailments, cognitive loss, memory impairment, adverse effects of medications, and immobility and balances issues.

Kristin Vaughan, DO

Dr. Vaughan grew up in Michigan and received her B.A. from University of Michigan,  M.A. from Goddard College, and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine  from UNECOM. She has been part of the  Rockingham County team for past 7 years. Dr. Vaughan enjoys gardening, travel, boating, pickleball and family time.

Heidi Crusberg, MD

After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Dr. Crusberg attended The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she received her M.D. She completed her family practice residency at The University of Colorado Health Sciences in Lafayette, CO. Dr. Crusberg’s areas of clinical interest include supporting and educating patients on healthy lifestyle choices and chronic disease management. Dr. Crusberg also speaks Spanish.

Sarah Litsch, MD

Dr. Sarah Litsch was born in Presque Isle, Maine and is a graduate of Bates College with a degree in Biochemistry.  She obtained her medical degree from the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 and completed residency at the NH-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency in 2009. Dr. Litsch practiced at Plaistow Health in Plaistow, NH doing full-scope Family Medicine for 14 years and was the physician site lead from 2018 to 2021. In 2022 she transitioned to her current role as Associate Hospice Medical Director for the Rockingham VNA and Hospice.  Dr. Litsch enjoys all aspects of primary care, but has a particular interest in geriatrics and advanced illness.  Outside of work, Dr. Litsch enjoys travel, cooking, time spent in nature and many adventures with her two young sons.

Mary Braun, MD

Dr. Braun has a specialty level qualification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She received her degree from the University of Minnesota and completed her residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Her areas of clinical interest include palliative care, chronic disease management, complex medical patients, and hospice.
