Introducing iN2L: Resident Engagement Technology

Rockingham County Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and Assisted Living Community has purchased a cutting edge resident engagement technological program called It’s Never Too Late (iN2L). The iN2L system was designed by a group of experts in Colorado. Since 1999 the iN2L system has been used in more than 3,700 nursing homes and assisted living communities. This solution provides thousands of pieces of content designed to help build relationships, enhance resident engagement, and improve memory. With an easy-to-use touch screen, the iN2L device provides activities, games, therapy, reminiscing, music, virtual travel, and so much more.

Healthy Aging

As seniors age, mental function tends to decline. Additionally, lack of social engagement and isolation have also been proven to have negative impacts on seniors’ health and well-being. However, studies show that using one’s brain on a daily basis can help ward off deterioration. Recognizing the unique challenges older adults face, Rockingham County sought a solution that would spark joy in residents and provide opportunities for engagement.

Senior living communities use iN2L to as an intervention to prevent social isolation and cognitive decline. By leveraging technology, the system provides cognitive stimulation, strengthens the brain, and improves residents’ quality of life. The solution has proven results in preventing social isolation and increasing mood among residents.

Resident Engagement

The iN2L system is ideal for both group engagement and individualized experiences. The iN2L system can launch hundreds of different applications for activities at the press of a button. This allows for individualized, person-centered engagement to help each resident find joy and purpose. The vast content library allows caregivers to meet seniors where they’re at, regardless of their cognitive or physical ability.

iN2L also helps residents, families, and caregivers foster meaningful relationships. The iN2L content connects residents with what interests and fulfills them. This kind of resident-centered engagement enables residents to share conversations, interactions, learning, and fun with each other, their caregivers, and family members. Another favorite feature of the iN2L system is that it provides an opportunity for families and friends of residents to stay connected by sending photos and videos straight to residents’ profiles on the device.

Putting Residents First

Building connections through resident engagement is at the heart of the iN2L system. “Delivering resident-centered care is one of our core values,” said Senior Director of Long-Term Care Services, Jason Smith. “This technology will help us ensure our residents continue living a life filled with joy as they age. We can’t wait to get started with iN2L at our community.”
