Give Back to Local Seniors
Volunteering at a nursing home can be a rewarding experience for those who enjoy working with seniors. By donating your time, you can help provide companionship and form meaningful connections.
Whether you’re interested in leading a reading group, playing music, assisting with activities, donating items, or simply chatting with residents one on one, your presence can make a world of difference.
Join us in our efforts to enhance the quality of life for seniors in our community by volunteering at our nursing home today.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteering for a nursing home has many benefits, including the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of elderly residents, gain valuable experience working with older adults, and develop meaningful relationships with both residents and staff.
In addition to possessing a positive attitude and an interest in working with seniors, Rockingham County volunteers must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Undergo a background check and TB test
- Complete our volunteer orientation
Once you complete our orientation, you’re welcome to create your own schedule and volunteer at your convenience.
Donations
Donating items to a nursing home can help bring joy and comfort to elderly residents. We accept items in good condition such as blankets, books, puzzles, games, and personal care items. These are the items we use all year:
- Tissues
- Body wash
- Body lotion
- Deodorant
- Shampoo/conditioner
- Throw blankets
