We’re excited to announce that we are welcoming a Healthy Living Specialist to our team. Maria Rose DeSisto is joining the Assisted Living Community on May 31. In this role, Maria will develop health and wellness programs for our residents. In addition, she will arrange educational classes and seminars. Finally, she will provide counseling and monitor residents’ special needs.
The Healthy Living Specialist role is new to Rockingham County. Developed by our partners, HealthPRO Heritage, the position is designed to help residents thrive. According to the National Wellness Institute, there are Six Dimensions of Wellness: emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual. This holistic model is the basis for our approach to wellness. Healthy living is important at every stage in our lives, but it’s especially beneficial for older adults. We believe that by addressing all dimensions of wellness we can help residents meet their full potential and succeed in their wellness goals.
Maria graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2020 with her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Minor in Nutrition. Furthermore, she is finishing her Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. She is passionate about working with special populations to help increase their functionality and quality of life. Above all, Maria’s goal is to bring awareness to the Six Dimensions of Wellness, and create excitement towards daily body movement. Most importantly, she will work with each resident to improve their quality of life.
In her free time, Maria enjoys being with her family and boyfriend, watching Patriots games, and having a backyard cookouts. She also enjoys cooking, reading and being outdoors.
We’re excited to welcome Maria to the community!
