Rockingham Welcomes New Chaplain Angie Esteves
Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is pleased to announce an enhancement in our chaplain services with the arrival of Chaplain Angie Esteves. In her new role, Angie will provide residents with increased access to spiritually enriching activities such as hymn singing, bible study, and one on one visits.
Angie brings a wealth of experience and a deeply compassionate approach to ministry. Her journey into bi-vocational ministry began in the early 2000s. After over a decade in law enforcement, Angie felt a calling to pursue full-time ministry. She thus embarked on an educational journey where she earned three degrees, including a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy. Angie attended seminary at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and Liberty University’s Rawlings School of Divinity. She also completing four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.
Angie’s background spans settings including corrections, hospitals, hospice care, and funeral homes. She co-founded “Until We Meet Again,” a support group for bereaved parents, and has over two decades of experience in end-of-life ministry. Her administrative expertise includes helping faith-based organizations strengthen their programs and operations. A career highlight for Angie is serving as Executive Director for an ecumenical organization in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Angie’s pastoral philosophy centers on providing support, encouragement, and spiritual care to those who are marginalized, isolated, grieving, or in need of companionship. Angie considers the Gospel and prayer to be essential components for any ministerial undertaking. Her favorite book in the bible is the book of Psalms, and her favorite biblical character is David in whom she has found a great deal of inspiration during her own difficult seasons in life.
“Our chaplain services are a vital part of the holistic care we provide,” said Chantal Dja Konan, Senior Director of Long-Term Care Services. “Chaplains offer spiritual support and guidance to residents and families during life’s most meaningful moments. Angie’s warmth, expertise, and dedication to serving others make her a wonderful addition to our community. We look forward to the impact she will have here.”
Beyond her professional endeavors, Angie is an avid roller skater. She is enthusiastically pursuing a goal to skate in all 50 states. “I have found that the only way to keep from burning out in Chaplaincy or any high stress endeavor is to pursue life giving activities that one really enjoys,” said Angie. She has already checked 29 states off her list and has skated internationally in Mexico, Honduras, and Canada. She shares her adventures on social media at (@skatethestates_).
In addition to her new role, Angie will continue serving as the Chaplain for the Rockingham County House of Corrections.
