The FDA has authorized, and the CDC has recommended the use of updated COVID-19 booster shots that are tailored to combat the two most prevalent omicron subvariants. The updated booster shots are produced by Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech. Vaccinated individuals are eligible for this new shot, at least two months after a previous shot. People ages 12 years and older are recommended to receive one updated Pfizer or Moderna (bivalent) booster. These updated booster shots will help restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination. At this time, prior COVID-19 boosters are no longer available.

September and October are also good times to get a flu vaccine. You can get a flu vaccine at the same time as a COVID-19 vaccine. Find your flu vaccine. We offer monthly on-site vaccine clinics that are open to all Rockingham County employees, residents, and family members.
The CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, including all primary series doses and boosters for their age group.
